How to Work on a Client Assessment 

Step 1. Getting Started - Logging In

The AI.TaxAssist tool has 6 different user roles. In trials, our customer success team would have mailed your credentials to your Tax Partner or assigned administrator. Please procure your credentials from them. 

Note: For the live version we will provide details on setting up your own credentials. Watch out for updates on this!

In order to work on an assessment, please make sure that your admin has created an assessment and assigned you as the Preparer. A user in the Preparer role is the main person who uploads financial information and makes changes on an assessment. 

Step 2: Logging in as Administrator

Are you an assigned administrator for this firm? You have the important responsibility of setting up the assessments for your firm. New assessments can only be created by a user in the FirmAdmin role. Likewise changes to assessment properties and deletion of assessments can only be performed by a user in the FirmAdmin role.

For creating a new assessment, you will need to have handy the following pieces of information on your client 

  1. Client Name
  2. Client Contact details (Name and Email)
  3. Business Registration Number
  4. Tax Registration Number (if different)
  5. Incorporation Year
  6. Financial Year End

Step 3: Check out your Dashboard

As a user in the Preparer role, you should be able to see the assessments that have been assigned to you in the dashboard when you login. If you do not see any assessments in your dashboard, please contact your assigned administrator. Step 4. Upload your documents

AI.TaxAssist tool currently supports financial statements obtained from the following accounting software types. Clicking on the software types in the list below will lead you to articles that describe the steps to be followed to download financial statements from those softwares and some sample documents as well.

  1. Xero

  2. QuickBooks

  3. MYOB

  4. AccPac

Managed Upload

If the statements that you wish to upload do not fit into any of the software types mentioned above, please click on the Assist Me button and provide the necessary information.

We will then assist in loading the documents and having the data extracted accurately into the Workspace. Please note that the documents submitted might require changes in order to upload them successfully. SLA for managed upload is 24-48 hours and we will notify you should we need more time for a complicated case. 

Step 5. Let’s get into your Workspace

Workspace is the main screen that a user in the Preparer role would spend most of his/her time on. Workspace offers a lot of features to manage and modify your ledger items.

Fixed Assets

The Fixed Asset tab in the Workspace is populated when a FA financial document has been uploaded in the Documents tab.For more information on how FA is managed please refer to this article Fixed Assets.

Step 6: Raising queries to your client

AI.TaxAssist makes it easy for you to raise inquiries to your clients right from the tool. The client is sent a notification email when an inquiry is raised. Notification would also appear on the client portal once logged in.

Step 7: Generate your Draft Tax Computation in seconds!

Once the user in the Preparer role has reviewed and made the necessary changes in the Workspace, he/she can generate the draft tax computation by clicking on the Approve All button in the Workspace.

Step 8: Submit for Review

AI.TaxAssist tool allows for two levels of review, if your assessment has both the roles of Reviewer and Manager assigned to it.

Step 9 : Client Computation

Once the reviews are complete, a user in the Manager role can generate the client computation.

Step 10: E-Filing

E-filing is not integrated with IRAS in our current version.
