Quickbooks Financial Statements

This document describes the steps to download the PL and GL statements from your Quickbooks account. The general format for the statements from Quickbooks is also listed here. Files in this format will be read in by the AI.TaxAssist tool when you choose Software Type as Quickbooks.


Steps to Download PL from Quickbooks

  1. Login to your Quickbooks account.
  2. Choose the company for which you would like to download the PL for.
  3. Click on Reports from the left pane. This opens a screen with a list of all the reports that are available to you.                                                                                                                                                                                                          
  4. Click on Profit and Loss report.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    
  5. Select Report Period and click on the Run Report button. 
  6. To download the Profit and Loss report, click on the Export icon and choose Export to ExcelThe Profit and Loss report will now be downloaded to a destination folder of your choice.

Steps to Download GL from Quickbooks
  1. Login to your Quickbooks account.
  2. Choose the company for which you would like to download the GL for.
  3. Click on Reports from the left pane. This opens a screen with a list of all the reports that are available to you.                                                                                                                                      
  4.  Scroll down the list or use the Search bar to look for General Ledger Report. It is available under For My Accountant. Click on General Ledger to open it.          
  5. Select a Report Period. Click on the Customise button.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       
  6. Click on Filter and choose All Income/Expense Accounts in the Distribution Account dropdown list.                                                                                                                                                      
  7. Click on Change Columns and make sure that Debit and Credit columns are checked. Click on Run Report button.                                                                                                                            
  8. To download the General Ledger report, click on the Export icon and choose Export to Excel. The General Ledger List report will now be downloaded to a destination folder of your choice.
